Matt Sedensky is a New York-based member of the global enterprise team at The Associated Press. As an AP reporter and correspondent, he’s also been based in Hartford, Honolulu, Kansas City, Miami and West Palm Beach, covering everything from hurricanes and mass shootings to politics and religion. For the past decade, he’s frequently written about aging and older Americans, penning stories from a dying hospice patient’s bedside, from nursing homes evicting unwanted residents and from rows of perfectly-shined hearses at a funeral convention. He was the inaugural journalism fellow at one of the nation’s premiere research institutes, NORC at the University of Chicago, focusing on the economics of aging. He’s a native of Bridgeport, Conn., and a graduate of New York University.
